The Dying Gaul Visits Washington
This is well worth a visit. Having viewed this stunning sculpture up close and personal, I can honestly say that, other than pure portraiture, it may well be, along with the Terme Boxer, the most amazing piece of sculpture to have survived from the Roman world — putting aside arguments about them both being late Hellenistic as opposed to purely Roman.
